Dr. LaTonya Goffney
Superintendent

Dr. LaTonya Goffney was named Lufkin ISD Superintendent in 2013. A native of Coldspring, Dr. Goffney began her career as a language arts teacher in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD. Additionally, she served as assistant principal and principal before serving as superintendent at Coldspring-Oakhurst for five years. Dr. Goffney earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and English, a Master of Education degree in administration, and a Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership, all from Sam Houston State University.

Dr. Goffney was the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Administrator of the Year Award selected by the faculty of Sam Houston State University College of Education. She was named as one of only 22 members of the 2012-2013 Class of Phi Delta Kappa International Emerging Leaders. The PDK Emerging Leaders program recognizes top educators from across the world.

Dr. Goffney is married to Joseph Goffney. They have two children, Joseph, Jr., 15, and Joslyn, 11. Dr. Goffney and her husband, Joseph, have co-authored a book titled All is Well as a tribute to their special needs son. Their story has been featured in several local magazines.


Lynn Torres

Lynn Torres was born in Louisville, Kentucky but moved to Texas during elementary school. She is a graduate of Richardson High School near Dallas. She came to East Texas and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. She received her Bachelorís Degree in Spanish and Sociology with a minor in Social Rehabilitation Services. She received a Masterís Degree in Spanish, and a Masterís Degree in Education with a Mid-Management Certification. She also received a Superintendentís Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Mrs. Torres is beginning her 39th year working in the field of education here in Lufkin. After spending 30 years at Lufkin High School as a Spanish teacher, department head, activities director, assistant principal and associate principal, she currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Lufkin ISD.


Dr. Anthony†Sorola
Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services

Dr. Anthony Sorola, originally from the west Texas town of Lamesa, is a Rice University alumnus.† He served as a bilingual teacher and campus administrator with the Dallas Independent School District while earning a graduate degree through Dallasí Urban Collaborative for Educational Leadership.† From 2009 through 2015, he†served as†a central office administrative intern and the Teacher Incentive Fund Project Director with the Round Rock Independent School District.† During this same period, he completed a Doctorate in Educational Administration within the Cooperative Superintendency Program at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Sorola will soon begin his sixteenth year as a public school educator.† He is enthusiastic about providing quality leadership within the Department of Administrative Services, which is composed of Human Resource Services, Maintenance Services, Transportation Services, and Student Nutrition Services.
